Mother's Day Memories: The 2012 Edition

May 14, 2012

Mother's Day: the day that you put aside any grumpiness and realise how happy and blessed you really are to have this little life in your life. How exciting every milestone can be, and how the horrible moments really aren't as horrible and you might think. My little boy started walking long distances yesterday -- best Mother's Day gift ever!

I had my eye on this necklace for quite some time until I told my husband that I wanted to break-down and get it for myself as a Mother's Day gift. He told me to order it up, and I was so unbelievable excited when it arrived. I have worn it almost every day since then. It is so simple, and such a lovely reminder of my little family.

Using glass Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola bottles, and this recipe for papier mache, we made vases with the children at work for them to give to their moms on Mother's Day. They did an amazing job. My vase -- seen above -- that I made at the same time as the children to teach them how to properly papier mache, was one of three gifts that I gave to my own mother -- I will share the others in a little DIY post. We helped the children make the flowers to put in the bottles to help their moms realise that they are vases -- although they could just be sculptures as well.

I hope you had a fantastic Mother's Day celebrating you, your own mom, or any other special woman in your life. Have yourself a happy Monday :)
