Swept Away by Ballet: My Love for Swan Lake

January 22, 2012

I loved the ballet Swan Lake from the moment the curtain first lifted. Many years ago, my mother and I saw an advertisement that the National Ballet of Canada was performing the ballet that very same night, and, at the last minute, we rushed to the theatre to purchase tickets.

We were seated in one of the very back rows on the main floor, and we were entranced the entire evening. That was the first ballet I had been to in a very long time, and I have been to many others since, but every time Odette and Odile make their way back to our stage, my mother and I immediately buy tickets for one of the first few rows. No experience has come close to the very first performance that we saw, though; we were swept away by the beauty and the wonder that is the music and movement of ballet.

  1. That would be so amazing! I have never been to a ballet - not my husbands thing. He does love the symphony, cirque soleil and plays so I compromise. He did take me to the Radio City Rockettes which is dancing and music so that was fun.

Anyway - so glad to hear that you had a wonderful time. Sounds like quite a lot of fun!

Have a great Sunday - Brandi

    1. I'm glad that your husband enjoys other forms of the arts. It's good that you're still able to get out and enjoy them together!

Thanks, Brandi! I hope you have a great Sunday too :)

    1. I really wanted to take ballet when I was a little girl, but wasn't able to. I ended up taking some hip-hop classes as an adult :)
