There are a couple of really important things that I have noticed since my son has started eating table food:
The first thing that I have noticed is that my husband and I have started eating a lot healthier -- we are incredibly picky people and would often only eat rice for supper...I know. Maybe it is just because I am at home all day, and can start making supper in the afternoon, but we have been eating a lot more home cooked meals -- even if they are just tacos, or pork chops with rice and vegetables. I know how important it is for our son to get protein into his little body, and so I make sure now that we have protein at every meal -- and vegetables. Wow! Were we ever horrible eaters.
The second thing that I have noticed, and this is probably even more important than eating healthier, is that we have been eating around the table. Before my son started eating with us, we would often feed him, cook-up our food, and make our way into the living room to eat while watching television. Now that he is eating with us every night, we are actually sitting down at the table as a little family.
Eating supper as a family every night was always very important in my house while I was growing up, but it never really felt the same when I ate at the table in my own home. I don't know what it was, but it almost felt awkward, and I didn't enjoy it; it wasn't the table that I had grown-up with. But now that I have my own little family sitting around the table with me, it doesn't feel awkward anymore. That little boy of mine has changed everything.
While I was growing up it was also important for us to eat together as family.

but I think, there will be some changes in future :)
Ooo! I hope so :)
DeleteBefore I say this - I don't have children ;-) We got rid of our dining room table in 2009 when my 705LB printing press moved in! All of our friends & family have children so we go to their house anytime we gather because it is easier on them. Being that it is just me & my husband - we live a bit like bachelors. So, instead of having my press out in the garage where it is hot, we decided to give up our dining room and make it a print shop! We do eat together every night in front of the TV!

PS - I do think it is VERY important when you have children to have family meals!
Oh the life of married bachelors! I bet you enjoy having your press in the house :)

It feels so much more important when thinking about a member of the family leaving the table for his/her own doesn't it? I remember when my sister got married...it felt very different around the table :)
